Namibian Craft : the Unknown and the Outsiders. celebrates the constantly changing landscape of Namibian craft culture through photographs,video, and collected artifacts. The project reflects on the influence of outsiders on indigenous craft culture while digitally preserving the craft processes forming one snapshot of a moment in time.

The production of Namibian Craft : the Unknown and the Outsiders. will take place in four phases: pre-production, production, post production, and exhibition/distribution.
Phase I : Pre-production - completed October 2014
In pre-production logistics of the trip were finalized, the subjects were researched, and the project began fundraising.
Phase 2: Production - completed Jan. 2015
Production took place in the field, around Namibia, during December 2014 and January 2015. We documented and recorded indigenous artists and their processes. This included jewelry, pottery, weavers, and dancing. The experts interviewed included Namibians well versed in Namibian art, craft, and tourism expansion.
Phase 3 : Post Production - started Jan. 2015 and planned completion June 2016
Post production includes completing visual products including a photography book, documentary, and exhibition plan for the project.
Phase 4: Distribution & Exhibition - exhibition opens Nov. 6, 2015 - TBD
The first show is set for the UA Gallery at the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama during November 2015. I have a second show scheduled at UAH in Huntsville, Alabama in Feb. 2016.
